646f9e108c Cosmo, an affectless mob bookie who lives in the basement of a retirement home, is promoted to hitman. He learns his new trade from Steve, a seasoned killer. He falls in love with a yoga teacher, Jasmine, and must figure out a way to leave the mob so they can be together. A bookie is promoted to Hitman and seemingly excels at his new found job. The reviews were very intriguing. And the movie had a good reputation among friends, BUT……..

Priestley really ruins this movie. I know that this is at direct odds with what some other reviewers have written, but I can't help it. Priestley is supposed to be a shallow, socially-inept guy who has never had a girlfriend, though he has regular sessions with a prostitute. Other reviewers claim that he plays this part perfectly, but I disagree. He seems very uncomfortable playing at this type of role. I can almost hear the director saying, "Jason! Let your arms dangle at your sides to give the impression that you are basically an inert blob of protoplasm." It doesn't work. You can feel Priestley's discomfort. There are no mannerisms, not habitual gestures, absolutely nothing that leads you to believe that he is even human.

"But that's the point of the film!" some will say. If it is, then it was the wrong approach to take. The overall effect is that he is sleepwalking or on drugs. Nobody else in the film seems to realize this.

All the other parts are played well, but Priestley just screws this movie up for me. I never watched "90210" so I have no preconceived notions about the actor, but he was not the right choice for this role.

Otherwise….the plot is OK for a crime farce. Don't spend money to rent this film, but you may want to take the time to watch it when it's on late some night. This is a movie I think you could say is in the same categorythe classic Pulp Fiction. Where can you see a guy going around killing people in cold blood seemingly without any reason, if not in these two films. I really liked the way Jason Priestley plays his character, from a innocent, retarded kid to a cold-blooded assassin. I must say it seemeda B-movie in the beginning, butthe movie went on, it only got better and better. Something else that was fun is Michael J. Fox's appearance in the movie. Great scene. A must see!
